Who We Are?

About us

EWF Asset Management was founded on a simple but firm conviction of its founders and managers to invest their own capital effectively alongside those of their co-investors, thus ensuring a perfect alignment of interests. This alignment of interests is not incidental — it is fundamental to everything we do. We believe investment decisions are strongest when managers share the same risks and opportunities as their investors.
Drawing on a shared track record and a complementarity that spans both technical expertise and geography, our founders set out to build a management company with three clear objectives:

Bridging Europe, North America and Asia, with a permanent presence in Paris, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Shanghai and extensive international networks, we access worldwide opportunities in sectors driven by innovation or undergoing deep structural change

Mitigating risk through alternative management techniques and strategies that carry low correlation with traditional asset classes

Supporting asset managers, financial advisers, and institutional partners with tailored collective investment solutions and discretionary mandates.

The team

EWF Asset Management brings together a genuinely complementary team of seasoned investment professionals with expertise across global capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, hedge funds, private equity and venture capital. This breadth of experience enables us to combine institutional robustness with entrepreneurial agility while approaching investment opportunities from multiple perspectives.

Sisouphan TRAN

Founding Partner & Supervisory Board Member

Sisouphan TRAN began his career in 2002 within Société Générale’s DEAI trading division in Paris, before relocating to London in 2003. In 2008 he joined BNP Paribas in London, and returned to France in 2013 to head the Privalto team at BNP Paribas in Paris.

In 2016, having observed in the UK the consolidation wave that was beginning to take shape in France, Sisouphan TRAN embarked on an entrepreneurial chapter and took a stake in Groupe Crystal, which went on to become one of the leading wealth management groups in France.

In 2019, backed by OFI Invest (Groupe Aéma) and APICIL, he co-founded and built Alpheys, which rapidly established itself as the leading securities account platform for independent financial advisers in France. Alpheys was acquired by the APICIL group in 2024.

In 2025, Sisouphan TRAN co-founded the Luxembourg SICAV EWF Multi-Strategy with Thomas CHAU. The fund quickly distinguished itself through the performance of its investments — particularly in technology in the United States and China — and in alternative strategies. Building on that success, they launched EWF Asset Management in France in 2026. Dans la continuité de ce succès, ils lancent en 2026 une nouvelle société de gestion en France : EWF Asset Management.

Sisouphan TRAN holds a Master’s degree from EM Lyon Business School and is a CFA charterholder.

Thomas CHAU brings more than twenty-five years of experience across a wide range of financial disciplines, working out of Paris, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The first part of his career was spent in commodities trading at Natixis and then Louis Dreyfus Commodities. He moved into mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance advisory in 2005, working in London at ABN Amro and subsequently Citibank.

In 2008, he shifted focus and relocated to Hong Kong, then Shanghai, continuing in investment banking at Standard Chartered before moving into Private Equity. Since 2018, he has been a Partner at Cedarlake Capital, a private equity fund specialising in technology with $3 billion in assets under management and a team of 50. Over the course of his career, he has executed more than $40 billion in transactions.
Thomas CHAU is also an entrepreneur: he founded Aquamontis, a family wealth management firm, in 2015. The practice has evolved into a multi-family office since 2022, with over $100 million in assets under management.

In 2025, Thomas CHAU co-founded the Luxembourg SICAV EWF Multi-Strategy with Sisouphan TRAN. The vehicle specialises in private equity, venture capital and alternative management, and its success led to the creation of EWF Asset Management in France in 2026.
